Ritas Smith

A native of Dodge City, Kansas, Ritas grew up in Oklahoma but headed to Los Angeles as soon as she graduated from the University of Oklahoma.  Her career began as a collection officer for the Internal Revenue Service but she was soon asked to become a U.S. Treasury Agent in 1972.  She had extensive training in Washington DC to prepare for a job in law enforcement. Women in federal law enforcement positions were few and far between and Ritas, besides working criminal tax cases, was also loaned to Secret Service, ATF, etc.  In 1980, she started her own tax practice, Ritas Smith & Associates in Manhattan Beach and moved her office to Torrance, CA in 1985.

In 1989 Ritas began working for a small brokerage firm out of San Diego and later worked with FSC & ASC.  Recently she moved to NPC/Elite Financial.  Ritas holds licenses 7, 24, 63, and 66.

Ritas has been quite active in the local Torrance community and was recently honored for her 15 years of service to the Torrance Cultural Arts Center Foundation.  She has also served on boards of Riviera United Methodist Church, Claremont School of Theology, the American Heart Association and Harbor View House/Health View.

Ritas has one son, Justin, who is a writer and a musician.  She of course is a devoted fan and wants everyone to enjoy his music at www.JonjonesMusic.com

Travel, reading, gardening, the theatre are all leisure activities that are important to Ritas.  Planning a trip is almost as much fun as actually going.

Managing client’s accounts is what drives Ritas. She has over 600 tax clients and almost half that many financial planning accounts. She does not use third party advisors but does the work herself. She loves the research and analysis for her advisory clients. Over the years she has become very well versed in the ETF universe because of the flexibility ETFs can give a client portfolio*. Ritas may be reached at Ritas@RitasSmith.com.

*ETF’s are not suitable for all investors. ETFs will fluctuate with changes in market conditions.
